Welcome to the Golden Gate Triathlon Club's Training Program for the Wildflower, Auburn, St George, Big Kahuna, and Tahoe 70.3 Triathlons! Mike Portman of Portman Coaching will be providing performance coaching to help you reach your highest goals and have fun doing it.
The HIT program is intended for our intermediate to experienced athletes, meaning you have completed an Olympic distance event within the past 12-months and it is recommended you have done one half-ironman, although not required. Additionally, you must be in good physical condition and healthy (without injury).
Mike Portman is also and experienced coach and decorate triathlete with a number of podiums to his credit. As a USAT Certified Coach Mike has learned the very best coaching techniques from all over the world. Involving different training phases, key sessions, recovery workouts, training the mind, eating right, and so much more. Coach Mike knows all the 'ins and outs' for all different types of endurance athletes.

Who is this for? This program is intended for our intermediate to experienced athletes, meaning you have completed an Olympic distance event at least once within the past 12-months. Additionally, you must be in good physical condition and healthy (without injury).
When will I be working out? Training schedules will be updated weekly. As a participant, you'll be able to log-in to a training program and view your workout schedule for the week.
Where will I be training? Weekend group workouts will be held. More information regarding training plans will be updated soon.
What happens if I can't make it to all the workouts? As an experienced athlete, you know the drill, knocking out your workouts is up to you. Keep to the schedule as best you can. You can always contact your coaches for help in planning your week.
Do I have to race? No. Participation is optional. This program is about trying something new, setting goals, and achieving them. Many participants use this program as a way to see if they want to do a future half ironman or Ironman!
