      <title>SDP Training Program | Spring 2026 (Sat, February 21, 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 26px;"&gt;Welcome to GGTC’s Short Distance Program (SDP)&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Whether you're new to the sport or a seasoned athlete looking to improve, SDP is for you!&amp;nbsp; Under the guidance of John Dahlz (JD), a veteran triathlon coach and accomplished professional triathlete, the Spring SDP will target the Wildflower Experience Triathlon on the weekend of May 2-3.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The structure of the 10-week program will include 2-3 coached group workouts per week, along with additional on-your-own workouts. This program is designed specifically to match your level of fitness and ability.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;ALCATRAZ EXTENSION&lt;br&gt;
This year, we're offering an Alcatraz extension to the SDP program which will take you right up to race day. The program will be coached by JD and will comprise five weeks of Training Peaks workouts, one in-person coached session with JD each weekend, a virtual course preview, and a great group of teammates to train with. All this for just $125.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Are you ready to take on an Olympic or Sprint Distance triathlon and looking to train with a smaller group? The Women Tri Together (WTT) training program could be the program for you.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Under the guidance of certified triathlon coach, Kimi Ueda, the WTT program is designed specifically for those athletes who are looking to complete a Sprint or Olympic distance triathlon and want to focus on their technique in a small group setting. This program is open to all women, gender diverse, or non-binary teammates.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We'll regroup briefly at the base of each climb and at the top, but these stops will be time constrained to make sure we finish before we run out of daylight.   &lt;p&gt;Join us for a coached set with our swim coach JD at Garfield Pool every Thursday at 5:50pm. Please note the following:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;ul style="font-size: 18px;"&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;This is a coached workout, not a "learn to swim" lesson. You should be able to swim 100 yards continuously at minimum.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Because we only have limited spots, registration will only open on the Monday of the same week as the swim practice.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Please do NOT bring bikes inside building at all.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;All bicycles must remain completely outdoors (including out of any courtyard areas). We are aware these are expensive bikes and often targeted for theft so either use really robust locks or leave them safely locked up elsewhere and travel to the pool by other means.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;Food is prohibited. No food in locker rooms or on deck.&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Attendance is limited to active participants and coaches.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;No spectators in the building at this time.&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;If it is your first time swimming at Garfield, email swim@ggtc.org or send a message to Jojo on Slack to get information on entrance location, lane assignment, and swim etiquette before showing up.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;p&gt;Our partner Pacific Open Water Swim Co. is organizing a sight &amp;amp; turn clinic exclusively for GGTC members!&amp;nbsp; This clinic will cover best techniques and practice for sighting and turning in open water, especially in crowded race-day situations. This is the perfect clinic to boost that swim-confidence before the spring races!&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p&gt;Join us for a coached set with our swim coach JD at Garfield Pool every Thursday at 5:50pm. Please note the following:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul style="font-size: 18px;"&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;This is a coached workout, not a "learn to swim" lesson. You should be able to swim 100 yards continuously at minimum.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Because we only have limited spots, registration will only open on the Monday of the same week as the swim practice.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Please do NOT bring bikes inside building at all.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;All bicycles must remain completely outdoors (including out of any courtyard areas). We are aware these are expensive bikes and often targeted for theft so either use really robust locks or leave them safely locked up elsewhere and travel to the pool by other means.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;Food is prohibited. No food in locker rooms or on deck.&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Attendance is limited to active participants and coaches.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;No spectators in the building at this time.&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;If it is your first time swimming at Garfield, email swim@ggtc.org or send a message to Jojo on Slack to get information on entrance location, lane assignment, and swim etiquette before showing up.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;

If you cancel a confirmed slot anytime on Thursday, we will ask you to pay $10 into the swim fund jar before signing up for more swims.&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>[Swim] Garfield Masters Swim (Thu, April 23, 2026)</title>

  &lt;p&gt;Join us for a coached set with our swim coach JD at Garfield Pool every Thursday at 5:50pm. Please note the following:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;ul style="font-size: 18px;"&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;This is a coached workout, not a "learn to swim" lesson. You should be able to swim 100 yards continuously at minimum.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Because we only have limited spots, registration will only open on the Monday of the same week as the swim practice.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Please do NOT bring bikes inside building at all.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;All bicycles must remain completely outdoors (including out of any courtyard areas). We are aware these are expensive bikes and often targeted for theft so either use really robust locks or leave them safely locked up elsewhere and travel to the pool by other means.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;Food is prohibited. No food in locker rooms or on deck.&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Attendance is limited to active participants and coaches.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;No spectators in the building at this time.&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;If it is your first time swimming at Garfield, email swim@ggtc.org or send a message to Jojo on Slack to get information on entrance location, lane assignment, and swim etiquette before showing up.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;Please show up at 5:50pm for a prompt 6p workout start time&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;

If you cancel a confirmed slot anytime on Thursday, we will ask you to pay $10 into the swim fund jar before signing up for more swims.&lt;/p&gt;

    &lt;li&gt;If you have a confirmed Thursday swim registration, show up or cancel by midnight on Wednesday.&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;p&gt;Join us for a coached set with our swim coach JD at Garfield Pool every Thursday at 5:50pm. Please note the following:&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;This is a coached workout, not a "learn to swim" lesson. You should be able to swim 100 yards continuously at minimum.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Because we only have limited spots, registration will only open on the Monday of the same week as the swim practice.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Please do NOT bring bikes inside building at all.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;All bicycles must remain completely outdoors (including out of any courtyard areas). We are aware these are expensive bikes and often targeted for theft so either use really robust locks or leave them safely locked up elsewhere and travel to the pool by other means.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;Food is prohibited. No food in locker rooms or on deck.&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Attendance is limited to active participants and coaches.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;No spectators in the building at this time.&lt;/li&gt;

      <title>Escape from Alcatraz Training Program 2026 (Mon, May 04, 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"&gt;With so many members racing Escape From Alcatraz this year, we're offering a short, Escape from Alcatraz training program, led by SDP and masters swim coach, John Dahlz (aka JD).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"&gt;JD will be joining us for one in-person coached training session a week. The rest of the program will integrate with the club's weekly workouts - track, AP swim, coached bike workout). All workouts will be available in advance on Training Peaks.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"&gt;&lt;span style="background-color: rgb(51, 51, 51);"&gt;The program will comprise five weeks of Training Peaks workouts, one in-person coached session with JD each weekend, a virtual course preview, and a great group of teammates to train with. All this for just $125.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;IMPORTANT POINT&lt;/strong&gt; - This is not a beginner program!!! This program rolls on from the end of the SDP and WTT programs and is open to those who took part in the programs OR have prior triathlon experience. Unfortunately, we don't have the time to train people who are completely new to the sport.&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p&gt;Join us for a coached set with our swim coach JD at Garfield Pool every Thursday at 5:50pm. Please note the following:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;ul style="font-size: 18px;"&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;This is a coached workout, not a "learn to swim" lesson. You should be able to swim 100 yards continuously at minimum.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Because we only have limited spots, registration will only open on the Monday of the same week as the swim practice.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Please do NOT bring bikes inside building at all.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;All bicycles must remain completely outdoors (including out of any courtyard areas). We are aware these are expensive bikes and often targeted for theft so either use really robust locks or leave them safely locked up elsewhere and travel to the pool by other means.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;Food is prohibited. No food in locker rooms or on deck.&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Attendance is limited to active participants and coaches.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;No spectators in the building at this time.&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;This is a coached workout, not a "learn to swim" lesson. You should be able to swim 100 yards continuously at minimum.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Because we only have limited spots, registration will only open on the Monday of the same week as the swim practice.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Please do NOT bring bikes inside building at all.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;All bicycles must remain completely outdoors (including out of any courtyard areas). We are aware these are expensive bikes and often targeted for theft so either use really robust locks or leave them safely locked up elsewhere and travel to the pool by other means.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;Food is prohibited. No food in locker rooms or on deck.&lt;/li&gt;

      <title>[Swim]    Swim at Aquatic Park (Tue, July 07, 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;We’ll head to Aquatic Park, put on our wetsuits, and hop into the water.&amp;nbsp;We'll be swimming both the perimeter as well as the buoy line.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This swim does not have a coach or a lifeguard. For information on our swims, &lt;a href="https://ggtc.org/swimming-in-aquatic-park" target="_blank"&gt;check out this page with maps&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Bring friends, snacks, drinks, and anything else you'll need to warm up after!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Where: Aquatic Park West Bleachers (&lt;a href="https://goo.gl/maps/qPejpUTq7F49ePQt5" target="_blank"&gt;Google Maps&lt;/a&gt;)&lt;br&gt;
When: We'll meet around 5:45pm for a 6pm jump&lt;br&gt;
