Bay Area Summit Chasers: Mt Tam & Mt Diablo Ride

Join Ambassadors Nick M, Pedro, and Tyler for a multi-option ride to the Summits of Mt Tam & Mt Diablo. The SF-departure crew will meet at the Bridge at 6am, peep a sunrise while heading up Mt Tam, roll across the Richmond Bridge and Berkeley Hills, meet Tyler & Co. at the Walnut Creek BART to refuel with donuts (Thanks Tyler!). From there, we'll make our way up Mt. Diablo via the South Gate. Rides will end at the Walnut Creek BART station & ride the train back to San Francisco - have a Transit (Clipper) Card ready!

Option 1: Tam + Diablo (led by Ambassadors Nick M and Pedro)

  • STRAVA ROUTE: View Route
  • DISTANCE: 123 miles (Bundle up - it will be cold at the start)
  • TOTAL ELEVATION GAINED: 11,183 ft
  • DROP FACTOR: Full Drop - see RIDE RATING SYSTEM
  • Be confident in your ability to hold a fast pace for a long duration; this ride will not have regroups other than those mentioned above. Having the map downloaded, supplies to repair common mechanical issues, and appropriate nutrition is essential.
  • AVERAGE FLAT GROUND SPEED: 18 to 20+ mph - FAST
  • STARTING TIME & MEETING POINTS:

Option 2: Diablo Only (led by Ambassador Tyler)

  • STRAVA ROUTE: View Route
  • DISTANCE: 39 miles
  • TOTAL ELEVATION GAINED: 3,962 ft
  • DROP FACTOR: Semi-Drop - see RIDE RATING SYSTEM
  • AVERAGE FLAT GROUND SPEED: 14 to 16 mph - MODERATE
  • STARTING TIME & MEETING POINTS:
  • 10:00am at Embarcadero (for those taking BART)
  • 11:00am at Walnut Creek BART

Important Information

Essential Items to Bring:

Warm clothing, water, nutrition, electrolytes, more carbs, credit cards, ID, CLIPPER CARD, materials to change a flat tire, helmet and smiles!
