Why Join?If you are looking to take the next step in your triathlon training, the Long Distance Program (LDP) may be for you. Perhaps you have been doing Sprint and Olympic distance triathlons and are looking to move up in distance. Maybe you excel at either swimming, cycling, or running and are looking for a program to refine the other disciplines. The goal of the Long Distance Program is to give you the skills and experience to successfully complete a Half or Full Ironman race, though doing the race is of course not required. | ![]() |

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSAre there fitness or equipment requirements for the Long Distance program? The recommended fitness requirements for the LDP:
Who is this for?Self-motivated individuals who want to take on the challenge of triathlon training and train in a group are welcome! When will I be working out?The group meets in-person 2-3 times per week (COVID guidelines observed) leading up to race day for a combination of swimming, biking, and running workouts. Where will I be training? The majority of workouts will take place in San Francisco with bike rides taking place all around the Bay Area. What happens if I can’t make it to all the workouts? It would be great if we had enough time in the day to do everything we want, but sometimes we have to prioritize. Rarely does any triathlete make 100% of the workouts, and that's okay. With the help of your coach, you can train as little as 8 - 12 hours a week (depending on your target race distance) and feel confident you can complete the race. Do I have to race? No, competing in the designated triathlon is optional. You can certainly train with the group and not race or race in another triathlon. It’s totally up to you! What about equipment? You will need a bicycle and helmet, running shoes, swimsuit, goggles, and a wetsuit. We will cover the basics of required and recommended triathlon equipment in the beginning of the training program. What is the refund or cancellation policy? There are no refunds given for GGTC training programs. If you find you have any issues attending the trainings, contact us through the email below. How do I register if I’m not a member yet? You’ll first need to purchase GGTC Annual Membership here. Then you can register for the Long Distance Program!
