Are you brand new to road cycling and want to get some miles in? This ride is for you!

Type:

NO DROP: Cyclists will ride at the pace of the slowest rider. We may modify the course depending on ability. This ride will be capped at 3 riders. Please RSVP if you intend on attending or you won’t be guaranteed a slot. If I can get another Ambassador on board I will raise the cap to 6 the idea is to have a 3:1 rider to ambassador ratio.

Meet:

Presidio Sports Basement at 9:45am. Roll at 10:00am.

Distance:

18.19 miles.

Climb:

1,451 ft (This sounds like a lot, but most of the climb consists of shallow 1-2% grades with 1 challenging 350 ft hill. If you can climb up to the Golden Gate Bridge you can do this ride.)

Course:

Points of Interest:

Battery Townsley; Rodao Beach and it’s sandbar protected intertidal Lagoon; Baker-Berry Tunnel and it’s invaluable shortcut through Hawk Hill as opposed to over Hawk Hill.

What to Bring:

Helmet, fully inflated tires (at least 90 PSI for 23/25mm 700c road tires), a spare inner tube, a hand pump, or C02.

Post Ride:

We will tour the bike shop and nutrition aisle of the sports basement pointing out commonly used bike accessories and why you ought to purchase them including:

Vests; Arm Warmers; Knee Warmers; Gloves; Chain Cleaners; Degreaser; Chain lube; Spare tubes; tire levers; bike multi tools; bike pumps; hydration; and nutrition.

If there’s interest we can also do a short clinic on road side tire changes.
