Sad there are no Ironman races this year? Try a double century. it is a bit easier, and this flat one is a good introduction!
What: a 200/150/100 mile bike ride, 10k/10k/5k of rollers. Three options!
Where (updated): Leaving from 5am at Conservatory of Flowers. Stops at 9am at Hellman Hollow and 10:15am at Pink Owl Coffee in San Rafael.
Course: An early 50 miler and a post-breakfast 150miler: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/5213742760. From San Rafael it will be about 100.
When: July 18th, 5am-6pm
Who: lead by James. 4152486493 for questions.
What to bring: 250 cals/hour of food, assuming 12 hours of riding, and electrolytes to add to your water bottles. Bring two tubes in addition to the normal bike gear, and make sure your bike is in good working order.
Qualifications: you should be able to ride 120 miles before attempting a double.
Comments: This ride will be self supported. The route finishes most of the climbing by 100 miles, and there are no big hills at all, just rollers. There will be at least 1 coffee stop in the morning, and a nice lunch stop somewhere between 100-130 miles. This won't be as tiring as a full-distance triathlon, as long as you can complete a 120 mile ride and are diligent about eating.
