Sad there are no Ironman races this year? Try a double century. it is a bit easier, and this flat one is a good introduction!
What: a 200 mile bike ride, ~9k'.
Where: Leaving from 5am at Conservatory of Flowers.
Course: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/39067987
When: 5am-6pm
Who: lead by James. 4152486493 for questions.
What to bring: 250 cals/hour of food, assuming 12 hours of riding, and electrolytes to add to your water bottles. Bring two tubes in addition to the normal bike gear, and make sure your bike is in good working order.
Qualifications: you should be able to ride 120 miles before attempting a double.
Comments: This ride will be self supported. There will be at least 1 coffee stop in the morning, and a nice lunch stop somewhere between 100-130 miles. This won't be as tiring as a full-distance triathlon, as long as you can complete a 120 mile ride and are diligent about eating.
Optional: If you wish to do the 200 and get California Triple Crown Credit, register here: http://www.inyoultra.com/ride/
