  • 10:05 AM - 10:30 AM
  • Tam High

Registration is closed

Join Ambassador Bryan and friends for a ~20 minute post-masters swim session aimed at building feel, confidence, and comfort in the water.

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

Simply put; we’re going to play in the water.

Whether it’s blowing ring bubbles, doing your best mermaid impression, or diving for rings, pool games help swimmers build critical in-water skills like body awareness, buoyancy management, and breath control. By disguising drills as games, we can build in-water comfort, and maybe, just maybe, make you a faster more confident swimmer.

Where: Tam High Pool Post Swim

When: After Masters (10:05-10:30ish)

For those of you looking to run after, we’ll do about an hour out-and-back from Tam High to Tennessee Valley too if you want to join

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

Splash— er-Playtime? What!? But I am a triathlete! I must maximize all time spent in Zone 2! I need to work on my V02 max with my fancy goggles! There is no activity to track this in Garmin! I do not have time for silly games!

Oh but you should make time! And here’s why, sweet friend:

For many adult swimmers, and in particular, triathletes learning to swim, we end up focusing disproportionately on intervals, heart rate, time, and effort. These are great indicators for fitness, but don’t necessarily help us build feel or comfort in the water. Comfort builds confidence, and ultimately, confidence builds speed.

Look, even Triathlete Magazine agrees: Read an article here explaining more.

SEE YOU IN THE POOL!
