GGTC's Plan to reopen
As San Francisco continues to loosen the restrictions put in place due to the coronavirus pandemic, we know many of you are looking forward to working out with your fellow GGTC members. However, as with most parts of your life, we will be looking at a “new normal” for the foreseeable future.
The board has worked hard to come up with guidelines whereby members can safely train together, whilst adhering to all of the pertinent medical recommendations and, most importantly, keeping each other safe.
The following rules apply to all future workouts:

Members will be required to register their attendance on the GGTC calendar for Tuesday night swims at AP. There will be four swim groups, each composed of six members, with two perimeter swims and two buoy line swims. We will also look to hold swim sessions for beginners and weekend swims as the weeks progress.
Instead of our usual meeting point, we will meet at the bleachers to the left/west of the Maritime Museum, as our usual meeting spot is currently very crowded. Members are asked to get changed into their swim gear within 15 minutes, to avoid clashing with the next group. You are also asked to keep your mask on while getting changed. We will have a bag watcher on hand for each of the groups. On exiting the water, if the bleachers are too crowded to get changed at a safe social distance, we ask that you pick up your belongings and move to a less crowded area.
Sharing swim equipment, such as body glide, swim caps and goggles, will not be allowed.
Members will be required to register their attendance at a bike ride on the GGTC calendar. Rides will be limited to a maximum of 10 members per group, with the Board and
Ambassadors ensuring we have a sufficient number of ride leaders. The meeting point for the ride will be disclosed in an email to registered members 12 hours prior to the ride starting and we will take a roll-call before rolling out.
When we stop for coffee (because what is cycling without coffee?!), please ensure your mask remains in place and be sure to use proper social distancing etiquette, when possible. Remember to always be respectful of the communities which we are visiting by following the rules and being a good representative of our club.
As with all rides, members are required to bring their own water bottles, sunscreen, food, and flat tire kit. Sharing or passing items around will not be permitted.
Unfortunately, we’ll not be able to bring back Wednesday track nights for the foreseeable future. Although it’s our most popular club event, bringing together a large number of people to participate in such a high-intensity exercise just isn’t responsible.
However, Mario will continue posting weekly track workouts in the GGTC Forums, for you to do at a time and place of your own choosing. We’ll also hold regular virtual check-ins with Mario in the coming weeks and months until we’re able to gather at Kezar again.
We also hope to operate Sunday Rundays at various locations across San Francisco. Keep an eye on the calendar and newsletter for updates.
Members will be required to register in advance on the GGTC calendar to attend weekly strength sessions with each session having a cap of 10 participants. We will continue to rotate the location around the city. You can find the location for each week’s workout on the GGTC Calendar. As always, the strength workouts are available in the GGTC Forums.
Until guidelines change, we’ll still be holding Happy Hours and Member Meetings over Zoom.
